Lexis' technical support is available at 50% off of list. This promotional
discount disappears on September 30th. Technical support
directly from Lexis for any supported version requires a technical support
contract. If you do not have a technical support contract, we as a CIC ,
can on your behalf get Lexis' help to resolve technical support issues. The
following from the Lexis web site explains what is and what is not included.
Live Answer Technical Support is designed to address issues that are
strictly technical in nature, such as unusual initial setup and
installation, errors, unexpected results, and performance problems. There is
no set limit on the number of support incidents or calls. After entering a
customer number, subscribers calling for assistance are put immediately
through to a trained technical support staff member. During exceptionally
busy periods subscribers may experience short hold times.
Please note that technical support is not designed to address routine setup,
customization, data conversion, training, or consulting. Live Tech Support
is limited to issues that are directly related to Time Matters/Billing
Matters and excludes setup and operation of operating systems, networks,
hardware, and SQL databases.
____________
Version 8 Stability has been improved with service release 2.0, which was released in early August. This has helped most firms suffering with issues surrounding new computers with dual core or multi-processor PC's. Version 6 and earlier versions are no longer supported by Lexis. To find your version, service release and number of licensed users, in Time Matters click on Help, then click on About Time Matters.
If you have version 6 or earlier, we highly recommend that you call us
to discuss your options.
What's New in Time Matters and Billing Matters v9.
ü The official product names are now: Lexis® Front Office Powered by Time Matters v9 and Lexis® Back Office Powered by Billing Matters v9. Our guess is Lexis in future versions will migrate the PC Law and Juris Billing programs, which they now own, and Billing Matters into one version with the best features of each program. At that point it may be called Lexis – Back Office and the powered by Billing Matters (PCLaw or Juris) will be de-emphasized or dropped entirely. However, that is just conjecture at this point in time.
ü
Version 9 enhancements include many ease of use changes which will result in
faster learning for new users and a better experience for veteran users.
For example, a new archiving wizard allows multiple record type to be
archived in the same process, and records not marked done will be alerted.
ü There are up to five new User Defined Records which will work their way into new solutions for conquering old problems. For an estates practice these may involve the capture and management of assets, and related contacts such as agents, trustees, beneficiaries, etc. and for a litigation practice it may involve medical records, discovery requests, etc.
ü Billing Matters now supports auto lookup of email addresses when emailing bills; TM AutoText - now works with the Quick Item entry screen; you can exclude page breaks; bill Selected Items from a sub tab; have the option of including Archived Records on reports (Enterprise); allows Receipt - Fee Allocation; on the Tust Report: new Date Range Detail with Beginning /Ending Balances.
